The President and Legal Representative of the BCCA received by the Kingdom of Buganda in Mmengo

As part of his pastoral and institutional mission in Uganda, the President and Legal Representative of the Baptist Community in Central Africa (BCCA), Rev. Dr. Jonathan Kavusa Kivatsi, paid an official visit on December 16, 2025, to Mmengo in Kampala, to the authorities of the Kingdom of Buganda.

The meeting, held at Bulange, the administrative headquarters of the Kingdom, enabled the BCCA delegation to present the Church’s main activities and to seek guidance on various issues, with the aim of strengthening its commitment to serving the people of God.

Discussions were held with the Spokesperson of the Buganda Council, Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule.

In his address, Rev. Dr. Jonathan Kavusa Kivatsi highlighted the actions carried out by the BCCA in the eight countries where the Church is established.

He recalled that in Uganda, since the official establishment of the BCCA in Katwe in 2016, the Church has been actively engaged in providing spiritual and social support to the faithful.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Kingdom of Buganda for its spirit of collaboration, while emphasizing the desire to strengthen a sustainable partnership, particularly through joint initiatives in the fields of education and health.

The President and Legal Representative of the BCCA further stressed the importance the Church places on prayer for peace and stability in the country, especially in the sensitive context of the upcoming electoral processes, invoking divine grace for a peaceful and united nation.

In this spirit, Rev. Dr. Jonathan Kavusa Kivatsi also sought the support of the Kingdom of Buganda on land-related matters, with a view to implementing structured projects for the benefit of communities, particularly in regions where the BCCA has a large and diverse membership.

For his part, Owek. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule commended the spiritual and social actions carried out by the BCCA, praising its commitment to improving the living conditions of the population.

He encouraged the Church to work closely with the various institutions of the Kingdom of Buganda, recalling that these institutions were established by His Majesty the Kabaka to serve the well-being of the people.

He notably recommended that the BCCA collaborate with the Buganda Land Board for any matters related to land access, assuring that the institution would facilitate land-related procedures.

This visit comes just one day after the official audience granted to the President and Legal Representative of the BCCA by the Honorable Hajjat Mina Kabanda, Minister in charge of Kampala Region Affairs. That ministerial meeting resulted in a recommendation for the BCCA to develop and submit concrete project proposals, with a view to formalizing future partnerships focused on human and social development.
